Our
Story
Currently tucked into the mountains of Northwestern Montana, Tanner and Jana Roach remain the heart behind everything Beck and Cap creates.
What started as childhood friends who became spouses and eventually creative partners has always felt like a natural progression of an early dream they kept building on.
Both deeply artistic, they spent years filling notebooks with ideas. They were always sketching, dreaming, and imagining what they could design or build. In 2016, while putting together a display for Jana’s vintage market, Tanner carved a small wooden mushroom that immediately caught attention. Dozens of people asked how to get one and it was clear they were onto something real.
For the next couple of years they carved hundreds of mushrooms and delivered them from California to Seattle to Salt Lake City. All the while, Tanner kept dreaming up furniture ideas and Jana kept refining the vision. When designer Leanne Ford discovered their work in 2020 and featured it on “Home Again with the Fords,” Beck and Cap grew into something much bigger than the two of them!
In December 2024, a fire destroyed their entire workshop, every tool they owned, and all of the wood Tanner had been drying for years. The loss was devastating, but it created a turning point. Instead of rebuilding the workshop to produce furniture and sell online, they decided to return to the work they have always loved most.
Today, Beck and Cap focuses on interior design, remodel projects, and creating custom furniture for clients who want pieces that tell a story. Everything they make is built with the same intention and artistry that has been there since the very first mushroom: a belief that good design is personal, thoughtful, and rooted in the beauty of time and craftsmanship.
